In keeping with this commitment, BLS Youth CAN students have undertaken three major educational initiatives, including Youth CAN's signature event, the Annual Global Climate Change Summit at MIT for students and educators grades 7-12; the Massachusetts Education for Sustainability and Climate Literacy Campaign, in which Youth CAN has formed a coalition with like-minded students, educators, administrators, parents, and friends who are working together to ensure that students in Massachusetts learn about sustainability and global warming as a required part of their secondary school education; and annual participation in the National Teach-In for Global Climate Change Solutions.
Youth CAN students have also engaged in educatioal outreach efforts with younger children at the Boston Children's Museum, the Franklin Park Zoo, and numerous community events, as well as with adults as the facilitators at neighborhood public hearings on the topic of climate change hosted by Boston City Councilor At Large John Connolly.
